Susy's Spring Events 2018:
18 - 21 April
I’ll be joining the wonderful chef Theo Randall on a Telegraph gastronomic cruise around Venice, hosting wine tastings and master classes both at wineries on land and onboard our cruise ship. This trip is now full but for future Telegraph wine trips visit telegraph.co.uk and see the travel and tour pages.
The Dart’s Farm Gin Evening returns, after its sell-out success twice over in the autumn! This time I am introducing a different group of gin producers and the makers will be there to talk through their distinctive local spirits. See dartsfarm.co.uk for details and to book.
Gin evening at The Kendleshire, near Bristol. Tutored tastings of fine gins, starting from 6.30pm to 8.30pm, and time for tapas afterwards. Contact [email protected] to book.
Exeter Festival of South West Food & Drink - I’m there on the Saturday giving wine talks all pm, and joining star chef Michael Caines on stage in the main demo theatre to do a spot of wine matching with his amazing food. exeterfoodanddrinkfestival.co.uk
6 - 9 May
Back on a Telegraph tour, this time on a river cruise up the Rhone in the fine company of Michel Roux Jr as I take up the spot as resident wine expert on his gastronomic trip. See Telegraph travel tours online for details, as above.
Real treat, hosting a gin tasting and ‘meet the producers’ evening at the new and charming Paschoe House country house hotel near Exeter. See paschoehouse.co.uk for more details and to book.
Off to Bridport in Dorset for the launch of Furleigh Estate’s fine new sparkling rosé and still rosé vintages. I’ll be introducing them at an evening event, talking to the winemakers about the technical side, and pairing the wines with specially created fish and seafood canapés. A lovely event. For tickets see furleighestate.co.uk
Sat 2 June
I’m delighted to say I’m returning to Taste of Grampian for the second year, holding four (ticketed) wine master-classes during the day and appearing with celebrity chef James Martin at the launch dinner the previous night. This is a really large and popular food festival near Aberdeen - it was brilliant last year and I‘m lookin forward to it again! tasteofgrampian.co.uk
Later in the summer I’ll be the resident wine expert at Dorset Seafood Festival (July 14 & 15) and the Telegraph Gin Experience comes back, even bigger than before, on 31 July and 1 August. More details to follow.
I hope to see you at any of these events. Happy Spring-is-sprung.
Susy is the author of eleven popular wine and drinks books, and has won both the prestigious Glenfiddich and Lanson awards for her writing. She was co-editor of the Which? Wine Guide for several years and since then, among other books, has edited Wine Made Easy, written Wine Wisdom (Quadrille) and, for fun, penned the humorous but informative Girls' Guide to Wine pocket guide, a best-seller in several countries. Now she is the author of the new, highly acclaimed How to Make Your Own Drinks (Mitchell Beazley/Octopus Books), a recipe book of drinks-making, which follows a year of producing everything from homemade wines, ciders and spirit infusions, to cordials, tisanes and lassis, mainly from foraged and store-cupboard ingredients.
