News and upcoming events
20-22 October - Dartmouth Food Festival, Devon
This year’s fabulous festival has just finished - once again I put together (with much help) the drinks seminars at Browns Hotel in Victoria Road. We had brilliant speakers this year - entertaining, informative, expert tutors for tastings, including The Guardian's Fiona Beckett and Sunday Times’s Will Lyons, wine merchant and maker Liam Steevenson MW, Devon wine educator Rebecca Mitchell, and from Spain, Barbadillo sherry’s Tim Holt. Thanks to all who helped make the talks a sell-out success - it was ace! We start planning the 2018 tastings any day now…
22 November - Telegraph Readers’ Special Event, London
I will join forces with Diana Henry, Xanthe Clay and Bryony Gordon, all fellow Telegraph columnists, for an exciting day & evening of talks and food & wine demos in central London. For more details and tickets, please see my twitter account @SusyAtkins for my tweets with link to buy.
25 & 26 November - Three Wine Men with A Splash of Gin, Manchester
Hurrah, I'm the ‘splash of gin’! This year I am joining Oz Clarke, Tim Atkin MW and Olly Smith, aka the Three Wine Men, by kind invitation at their pre-Christmas shows. Having taken part in their Cardiff event earlier in October, I am much looking forward to hosting more gin tastings with the chaps in Manchester! HUGE thanks to the gin exhibitors and to Luscombe drinks for their delicious tonics at these events.
1 & 2 December - Three Wine Men with A Splash of Gin, London
More of the ginaissance as I join Oz, Tim and Olly in London offering my gin expertise to add to their popular wine events.
6 December - Dart’s Farm Festive Indulgence Evening, Devon
I’ll be joining top chefs on stage, including Michael Caines, and fine local food and drink producers for an evening of Christmas tastings and demos at the one and only Dart’s Farm. Come along and taste festive wines. More details and tickets at www.dartsfarm.co.uk
26-28 January 2018 - The France Show, London
Once again I’ll be the resident independent wine expert at the wonderful France Show in Olympia. The most cheerful event in the darkest time of the year - come along and sip wine with me, meet wine merchant exhibitors, watch chef demos, taste fab French food, see the can can dancers, search for French holidays or properties - generally revel in all things francais!
I’ll be at the Telegraph Travel Show from 23-25 February, more details to follow, and off on three Telegraph Travel tours to Italy and France later in the year as the wine expert accompanying Michel Roux Jr, Jean-Christophe Novelli and Theo Randall. Watch this space for more on these gastronomic tours!
Happy Christmas all!

Wine Guide for several years and since then, among other books, has edited Wine Made Easy, written Wine Wisdom (Quadrille) and, for fun, penned the humorous but informative Girls' Guide to Wine pocket guide, a best-seller in several countries. Now she is the author of the new, highly acclaimed How to Make Your Own Drinks (Mitchell Beazley/Octopus Books), a recipe book of drinks-making, which follows a year of producing everything from homemade wines, ciders and spirit infusions, to cordials, tisanes and lassis, mainly from foraged and store-cupboard ingredients.
